Kirk A. McCullough, MD (Leawood, KS), presents a case using the InternalBrace™ ligament augmentation procedure for a Lisfranc injury. The repair addresses the intraosseous Lisfranc ligament using a collagen-coated FiberTape® suture with a metallic button on the 2nd metatarsal and a 4.75 mm SwiveLock® anchor in the medial cuneiform for knotless fixation.
The InternalBrace surgical technique is intended only to augment the primary repair/reconstruction by expanding the area of tissue approximation during the healing period and is not intended as a replacement for the native ligament. The InternalBrace technique is for use during soft tissue-to-bone fixation procedures and is not cleared for bone-to-bone fixation.
